St. Paul’s University Kenya

Green Belt Movement (GBM) today attended a symposium on the Management of the Ecological Crisis in Kenya at St. Paul’s University Kenya; our Executive Director Aisha Karanja was the keynote speaker at the event.

In her address, the Executive Director highlighted GBM’s Climate Change Program that aims at strengthening the understanding and capacity of rural communities to take action against climate change.

As well as raising national awareness on the role of local communities and forests in tackling climate change, GBM has partnered with the Government of Kenya in carbon projects within Aberdare forest, Mt. Kenya forest and the Mau forest.

The symposium provided an opportunity for Scholars in various fields, Church leaders, and partners to meet and discuss issues of environment with some of the key people working in the environment sector.
