International World Water Day 2014: Water and Energy

March 21, 2014

Saturday 22 March is the World Water Day. It means focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme is Water and Energy.

The Nature Conservancy has graciously invited the Green Belt Movement in their planned activities to mark this day at Ngethu Water Treatment Plant and onwards to Mwagu Water intake area where farmers are working to reduce erosion getting to Chania and Nairobi Water’s main intake at Mwagu.

Join us in this celebration and spread the message: Water requires energy and energy requires water: Water is required to produce nearly all forms of energy. Energy is needed at all stages of water extraction, treatment and distribution.
