We are delighted to inform you all that the Municipality of San Borja, the District hosting the UNFCCC COP 20 have organized a ceremonial tree planting at the city of Lima tomorrow 9th December 2014 to honor the Memory of Prof. Wangari Maathai as part of the UNFCC COP 20 events. We thank the authorities in Lima for this honor.

The Green Belt Movement (GBM) will be well represented at the occasion with Ms. Wanjira Mathai, Chair of the GBM Board and Project leader for the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace & Environmental Studies (WMI) already in Peru for COP20 ,with one Board Member (Peter Ndunda) and two staff members (Charles Peter Mwangi and Teresa Maina).

This is in solidarity with our climate colleagues who are in Peru for the climate change COP.

The legacy lives on!
