The Green Belt Movement has been awarded a coveted time slot for the BBC Radio 4 Appeal in January, 2014. We are ecstatic to have this opportunity and to welcome our representative, Sir Jonathon Porritt, former Director of the British environmental activist group, Friends of the Earth.

Here you will find a recorded message from Sir Jonathon Porritt describing his involvement with the Green Belt Movement as well as the main goals of our organization in promoting, what he dubs the, “natural foundations of prosperity” through planting trees in Kenya.

His message also stresses the importance of environmental stewardship in the international peace process, another important motivator behind the work of the Green Belt Movement. Tune in for the Green Belt Movement’s BBC Radio 4 Appeal on January 19, 2014 at 7:55 and 21:26 and subsequently on January 23, 2014 at 15:27. You can listen to the Appeal throughout the week on the BBC Radio 4 Appeal website.
