Field Visit With the KKL-JNF Team

July 29, 2016

The foot of the Aberdare Ranges set ground for today’s activities as the Green Belt Movement (GBM) welcomed Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) officials to some of our project sites in Nyandarua County. The team hailed the unique methodology that GBM employs whereby communities surrounding critical watersheds in the country are empowered to participate in conservation of these ecosystems.

The GBM community groups took the team through the entire process of landscape restoration from their own experience. The team also had particular interest on the livelihood improvement activities that GBM supports in the region which include: simple water harvesting techniques, kitchen gardening, soil conservation, and fodder cropping.

Learning better propagation skills from the Israeli experts was well appreciated by the communities.
