Wangari Maathai talks about the mottainai campaign in Kenya and elsewhere. "Mottainai" is a Japanese term that means, in effect, "reduce, reuse, recycle." Prof. Maathai first came across it during a visit to Japan in 2005. The campaign has centered in Kenya on the reduction and reuse of thin plastic bags.
