September 7, 2018

This week, GBM hosted Rafael Chaves from the Environment Secretariat of the State of São Paulo - Brazil and Vice President of the Brazilian Society of Ecological Restoration.

Through an experiential visit to GBM project areas in Nyeri County, Chaves had an opportunity to compare restoration experiences between Kenya and Brazil.

The overarching goal of the visit was to share best practices in the fields of landscape restoration, watershed management, sustainable land management, and rural development.

He explored the various ways in which farmers in rural Nyeri are managing their water and soil, the various food security initiatives they are undertaking as a way of adapting to climate change as well as their landscape rehabilitation efforts.
