As the curtains drew on the tenth and final edition of the IAAF World U18 Championships in Nairobi on July 16th, the Green Belt Movement in partnership with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has been conducting a massive tree planting campaign that run alongside the Championship event.

This project, “The Track Tree Challenge”, has seen 18 schools in Nakuru County plant a total of 29,000 indigenous tree seedlings in their respective compounds in the month of July and a further 71,000 will be planted in Dundori Forest.

An additional 3,000 trees were also planted at the Global Legacy Forest in Kasarani Stadium by athletes, IAAF delegates and the LOC family.
