A new partnership with IAAF

May 31, 2017

The Green Belt Movement (GBM), in a new partnership with IAAF, is organizing a community legacy project to run concurrently with this year’s IAAF World U18 Nairobi 2017 Championships to be held in Kenya.

The project entitled 'The Track Tree Challenge' – seeks to rally the youth's momentum towards better environment management. GBM will organize major tree planting events that will see the planting of 100,000 trees in Dundori Forest in the Mau Complex and schools in Nakuru County.

During the contract of partnership signing this afternoon at the IAAF Coordination Office, the Local Organizing Committee Chief Executive Officer Mwangi Muthee lauded this legacy project as a flagship that will go a long way in inculcating sound values of conservation to the younger generation.

Representing the Green Belt Movement, Mercy Karunditu, the Interim Director-Programmes, made a call for all Kenyans to walk the talk towards 10% tree cover in an effort to conserve and replenish our landscapes.

We wish to thank the Local Organizing Committee for considering the Green Belt Movement for this partnership. #TrackTreeChallenge
