Dear GBM Partner and Friend,

Re: Invitation World Environment Day –  June 5, 2015

June 5, 2015 is the World Environment Day (WED) when people world over come together to take action for the betterment of the environment.

Karura Forest, one of the largest urban gazetted forests in the world, shares a long history with the Green Belt Movement and its founder Professor Wangari Maathai. In 1997 and 1998, Professor Wangari Maathai and the Green Belt Movement fought for the protection of Karura forest. The Wangari Maathai corner was set aside in Karura to honor the spirited fight to protect the forest.

It is at this site that the Green Belt Movement cordially invites you to a tree planting event to celebrate the World Environment Day from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The Theme for this year’s World Environment Day is: 7 billion dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care.

We look forward to your attendance and participation at the event.

Sincerely,

Aisha Karanja
Executive Director
