International Day for Biological Diversity Tree Planting at Karura Forest

May 22, 2015

Earlier today, we held a tree planting activity at the Wangari Maathai Corner in Karura Forest to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB).

This year’s theme – ‘Biodiversity for Sustainable Development’, reflects the importance of biodiversity for the achievement of sustainable development.

Humanity’s fate is tightly linked with biological diversity – the variety of life on earth. Biodiversity is essential for sustainable development and human well-being. It is crucial to the reduction of poverty, due to the basic goods and ecosystem services it provides.

The event kicked off with a few remarks from Green Belt Movement, Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) and Kenya Forest Service.
